Medigap Insurance is a Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan that can help you pay your share of the the costs associated with Medicare Part A and Part B.

If you’re interested in getting a Medigap Insurance Policy, our agency can help you shop private carriers to find you the right policy at the right price.

So how does Medigap Work?

When you have medical costs that are covered by Medicare Part A and Part B, Medicare will pay the Medicare-Approved amount (typically, less than the actual amount of your doctor’s bill and you are responsible for the balance). Your Medigap policy will then pay its share.

When Can I Buy Medigap Insurance?

The best time to buy a policy without Medical Underwriting is within 6 months prior to your Medicare Part B enrollment. You can also enroll within 6 months after your Part B effective date. This is called your Medigap Open Enrollment window. If you miss your Medigap Open Enrollment window, you can still apply for a plan, just know you might be subject to Medical Underwriting. This means the insurance company can approve or deny your application based on your health.

How Much Is Medigap Insurance

The cost of your plan will depend greatly on which plan you choose. There are many plans including Plan F, G, N, Medicare Advantage as well as understanding and getting Part D for prescription drugs if you need them.
